What people are saying
I think Kat Apel may be our Book Week treasure. The boys love you! Teachers, students and parents have loved hearing you talk about your books and your family, and all the teachers have been impressed with your style and your activities.
Engaging and insightful - Richard is a superb speaker.
The students and teachers were very impressed with Peter and should funds allow, we would like to have him back again next year.
Lucia kept our Year 3 and 4 students totally enthralled with her sense of humour, enthusiasm and highly engaging presentation. Lucia took the students through the process of illustrating books from the beginning sketches to the completed illustrations to the published books. Showcasing her original drawings and paintings was a highlight of the presentation. To finish, Lucia led the students through a short drawing workshop which they loved. The staff and students could not talk highly enough abo [...]
Simon was great . He manipulated his presentations to the age level and composition of the audience and handled both the 130 students presentation and the 50 students equally well. Would definitely get Simon back next year again if he’s available.
The speaker was very engaging, very age appropriate for the children, involving them in the session. Dean provided a combination of formats, from singing, having the book on the screen. It was a very enjoyable experience for all the children and staff. The feedback from the teachers was that the children loved it.
Josie was really well prepared and put the focus on key aspects of Podcasting which I know meant she had to reframe lots of her story writing info. She had lots of great advice and interesting ideas. (Customised Presentation)
It’s may sound like a cliché-but it’s a true one- Crystal got even reluctant writers to complete a story. For at least one student this may be the first time that he has done this!
Andy had a well organised, engaging and interactive presentation. He shared some of his published books, talking about the process of getting a book to a published state. Andy also brought in his version of a 'writer's notebook', which tied in very well with our students' own launch of personal writer's notebooks. Andy was engaging and entertaining for our yr 3-6 students, with his sketching and involving them in doing their own 'two animal' sketch.
We recently held a Literature & Arts Festival at St. Catherine's Catholic College, The Whitsundays for our Secondary students. All the authors that attended were entertaining, engaging and inspiring. I have had so much positive feedback from students, staff and library colleagues. The students have all been raving about how excellent the festival was, and they were disappointed at the thought of returning to classes for the rest of the week. I have had reluctant readers coming into the library t [...]
Anisa was a hit with students and staff. Her fun informal style was engaging and it was great to see our students participating in word games. A number of my budding writers followed her to her car seeking advice. One of my more reticent young lady’s was particularly keen to seek her counsel. I would have no hesitation in recommending her to friends and colleagues.
Karen’s motivating, inclusive style and high-yield activities really had the students at all abilities working hard, creating stories and experimenting with their imagination.
The sessions both with the students and with the teachers were fantastic. It made all the teachers talk about what and how we are teaching as well as ignited a passion in the teachers to implement changes to their practices.
The whole booking experience was easy and ran smoothly from my late inquiry to booking and confirming details of Nadia's visit. A very positive experience for all concerned - and the boys are still talking about it! Some quotes from teachers about Nadia's visit: Year 1 loved Nadia because she was funny, musical and sang about all the gross things that boys just love! She engaged with the boys really well and used her fine-tuned behaviour management techniques to keep them focussed and listening [...]
