What people are saying
I know you love your writing but you are really gifted in storytelling to an audience and you had those students today hanging on your every word....you were able to get across strong messages about the detective genre that will certainly help these students in their writing over the coming weeks. Look forward to catching up again next year...
We had a lovely Literature Event yesterday. Catherine Bateson was fantastic, especially for poetry, all the sessions went smoothly and we have had great feedback from the staff and students. The English department have even said that students would have liked more time with Catherine for the poetry component. We are now thinking about next year and would love to have Catherine back. We had a great time, thanks so much.
Sandie is the best! She's super efficient and friendly.
"I really enjoyed the visit from Robert Hoge because I found his story very interesting and inspiring. I thought he was very confident and brave and he wasn’t afraid to be open with us, which I found really awesome. After his visit, I think I have a better understanding of the acceptance of everyone, no matter how different or unique they are. " Year 6 student.
Anne E Stewart did an amazing job today at the Library. Both the teacher and students really enjoyed her storytelling and were on the edge of their seats. Anne was perfect for Harmony Day celebrations.
What a wonderful way to celebrate Book Week…with a real life author and illustrator – Shannon Horsfall! Shannon presented to all of our students here at Caboolture East State School, engaging them in the reading of her two picture books, “Was Not Me!” and “Nomax!”, the writing process, and creating illustrations. Shannon is particularly adept in adapting to a range of audiences – from Prep to year six, with all of her sessions being extremely appealing to both students and teachers. Shannon was [...]
The students are still talking about it and we all went to work to develop interesting characters and settings in order to publish some interesting stories. I personally noticed an improvement in several students’ writing due to the details they included. This they remembered from you and I thank you.
Jenny Wang helped us kick off a week long celebration of learning as part of Catholic Week activities at Jubilee Primary. With Jenny's expertise, all students successfully created their own manga characters, inspiring some students to submit art work for the school's mini Art Show. Jenny's own passion for using animation to spread positive community messages could be a great starter for students building their own community message.
Presenter was very engaging and charismatic. Children were inspired. Even children who hate art were enthusiastic to be involved. Story planning content was very beneficial to engage children in writing. Fantastic work! Excellent.
The visit was a great success. Pat engaged the students well, and they enjoyed the writing workshop very much.
Thanks for a truly fabulous CCLC in 2012. We were so thrilled with the response to your sessions and so grateful for all the energy and passion you devoted to each of the workshops you conducted.
It was a wonderful visit last week and an experience that did support many of the messages we deliver to students regarding writing, creativity and engaging in literacy. I was particularly thrilled with the messages Kirsty gave regarding the process and long journey attached to being a writer.
