As part of our Literacy Day celebrations, we had a very special visit from author and illustrator duo, Haydn and Damien Crespan. The Crespan brothers shared their writing process, the detail behind each illustration and how they’ve overcome challenges such as a colourblind illustrator! We were truly captivated by their debut children’s book, ‘The Adventures of Triz’. Not to mention, their dinosaur display and the REAL fossils they brought for us to explore.
Nadia engaged the students and they enjoyed her humour. Nadia was able to adapt to the wide range of age groups from Kindy to year 6. The teachers appreciated her focus on using "imagination"
Our students loved the session! Charlotte really connected with the P-2 age group keeping the students engaged with stories about her life and how she started writing books. Getting up and moving is always great for the students. One of the best visiting authors we’ve had!
Hit the nail on the head. Totally in line with the curriculum. Would recommend him to anyone in Australia, New Zealand, worldwide. Fantastic!
Zachary Ashford tailored his presentation to a diverse and large cohort of students. His sessions were interactive, engaging and entertaining. Zach sought feedback constantly and communicated effectively throughout our visit. Would definately recommend!
Thank you for the day you spent at Chisholm. The kids all enjoyed their time with you and found your stories interesting and engaging. The feedback from teachers has also been very positive, especially in relation to your ability to relate to the students. The English HOD was interested in getting you back in the future!
Susy Boyer did an interactive chalk pastel workshop with our class 1 and 2 children. I had been to a workshop with Susy in previous years at another school and thought of her instantly when organizing a drawing workshop with young children. Susy is very professional and teaches the children with a calm and patient manner. She was well received by teachers and children, who all got more than they were expecting from the workshop and I would be happy to use Susy’s services again.
I was very impressed with the way Speakers Ink worked so hard to ensure we had Speakers for our Book Week this year. After a last minute cancellation by who we had booked in, Sandie worked very hard to find someone who would do a great job and she chose very well for us. Thanks very much to Sandie and the team.
Darren was very friendly to staff and students. He was more than willing to give extra time to speak to the students in a one on one environment. He was very engaging and got lots of audience participation with a game. Would definitely use Dave again as a speaker at our college.
Richard Yaxley Richard joined us for our annual Literary Festival recently and was hugely popular with our boys. He conducted lively and engaging cohort presentations to middle school students, practical writing workshops and also featured in our ‘Authors in Conversation’ evening with our parent community. Richard is a lively and engaging speaker whose insights into the writing process resonated with our students. I would highly recommend Richard to any school community.
At our Literature Event, Taryn talked to our Year 7 students about the importance of reading and gave many tips on creative writing. She was well organised, and we had a lovely day. In the last session’s question time, the final question asked by a teacher was not to Taryn but to the students. What were they taking away from the presentation? It was wonderful that the students’ answers were many and varied. Student feedback during the day included: She was really good, and I learnt so much. [...]
Annie came a long way to speak to a LOT of children. She was delightful, just like her books, and the children were engaged and responsive. Annie went to the trouble of bringing lots of her original illustrations and our students were fascinated to observe her serenely painting a watercolour illustration as she answered their questions.
